Study Hubs organization GWODW 2023

For Open Data Workshop 2023, we are encouraging participants to host or join “Study Hubs” to work through the tutorials and data challenges together.

Study Hubs can be organized by the GWODW mentors or also by participants who would like to work on the tutorials and notebooks together.

If you would like to host a Study Hub, we encourage you to advertise it here. Please reply to this post, and include information people will need to join your hub. Please include:

  • Study Hub location and time.
  • How many people can join?
  • How do participants sign-up? Is there a registration form?
  • Will there be experienced GW analysts (mentors) at your hub to answer questions?
  • Any other information relevant to the participants, e.g. COVID protocols.

We are organizing a study hub at Sapienza University of Rome :it: :stadium:

  • Study Hub location and time: Department of Physics - Building “E. Fermi” (Dipartimento di Fisica - Edificio “E. Fermi”), May 15th - 17th from 14 CEST to 16 CEST. We will meet on the second floor at “Sala Calcolo”

  • How many people can join? Max 30-40 persons.

  • How do participants sign-up? Is there a registration form? Please register using the google form here.

  • Will there be experienced GW analysts (mentors) at your hub to answer questions? Yes, we will have GW experts from Virgo happy to answer your questions about the tutorials and GW science.

  • Any other information relevant to the participants, e.g. COVID protocols. Please be aware that depending on the evolution of the atheneum rules you might be required to wear an FFP2 mask.

  • Study Hub location and time: The sessions will take place between 10 am and 1 pm split between two locations:

    • Monday 15th: Institute of Physics (37 Caledonian Rd, London N1 9BU)
    • Tuesday & Wednesday: Royal Astronomical Society (Burlington House, Piccadilly, London W1J 0BQ)

We (KGWG) are organizing a study hub at Seoul National University with the support of the center for the Gravitational-wave Universe (GWUniverse).

  • Any other information relevant to the participants, e.g. COVID protocols. : According to South Korea’s latest COVID-19 protocol, wearing a mask is not compulsory, but should be followed by the government regulations in case of problems.

we are organising a Study Hub in Trieste (Italy) at the University. Here the details:

  • Study Hub location and time: Via Alfonso Valerio 2, Trieste - Dipartimento di Fisica - Edificio F, Università degli Studi di Trieste ; we will meet in the morning at the time of the lectures (09:00 - 10:30 CEST) to follow them together in AULA POROPAT and then in the afternoon from 16:00 CEST to 17:30 CEST to work on the tutorials in AULA A.

We are organizing a study hub at UMBC in Baltimore, Maryland, USA!

  • Study Hub location and time: UMBC Department of Physics - Rm 401 / ILSB 302, May 15th - 17th from 10 AM - 2:30 PM (except Tuesday which is 11:30 SM - 4:15 PM) . We will replay the lectures in the AM and have tutorial time in the afternoons.
  • How many people can join? Max 24 participants
  • How do participants sign-up? Is there a registration form? Please register using the google form on our webpage here .
