I read a paper about the evolutionary pattern of the violent disturbances of black holes , such as black hole mergers, ( [2602.12101] Black Holes Trapped by Ghosts ) and my question is : is it possible to check the existence of the pattern shown in the paper for the GW signal in all the observations that were collected through the years or not?

Hi @speluso . Thank you for the question! I’m not an expert on this topic, but I made a quick read of the paper you linked. Yes, as best I can tell, it should be possible to measure if this effect is real using the data we have. For example, there was a careful study of ringdowns done using the data for the loudest event so far, GW250114. Loud events like this could be used to look for the “ghost” effect described in this paper.
